The event will feature a lecture on the weaving heritage in different parts of the Kingdom by American researcher Joy Hilden who wrote the book “Bedouin Weaving of Saudi Arabia and its Neighbors.”

The researcher will also lecture at the heritage workshop, which begins on Saturday. Executive Director of the society Maha Al-Sinan said the event is being organized because of the princess’s keen interest to encourage the weaving craft.

Hilden is a researcher with 19-year experience. She has been doing field research on Bedouin weaving since 1982.

With her husband, who taught in the Eastern Province, she traveled a lot in search of weavers whose knowledge of this fast-disappearing craft she wants to preserve. She has written several articles on the subject, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
