- RIYADH: Lulu Hypermarkets in Saudi Arabia will celebrate a British Week with great fanfare with the support of the British embassy, beginning April 21.
- Sir Tom Phillips, British ambassador, will be the chief guest at the British festival at the Riyadh-based Lulu Hypermarket, in which food and fun will be intertwined together with an aim to showcase Britain's food culture and diverse products.
"This week-long British festival will showcase a range of food products from Europe, especially from the UK," said Cliff Morris, Lulu's manager for group's retail operations, yesterday. Morris pointed out that the British Week is part of Lulu's campaign to promote world-class British products in Saudi Arabia. The event coincides with a grand reception to be hosted by the British Embassy on April 21 to mark the 100 days countdown to London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games and to showcase Britain's capabilities.
Morris said the prime focus of the British Week is to portray Lulu Hypermarkets as a unique shopping experience for its customers. "This event will prove the lengths to which Lulu goes to serve its customers no matter whatever their nationality," said the operations chief, adding that the festival will also highlight the exclusive range that Lulu has in its outlets in Riyadh and Alkhobar, which are not available anywhere else in the Kingdom.
"There will be more than 1,500 imported products from the UK available in our hypermarket during this seven-day campaign at very attractive prices," said Shehim Mohammed Unni, regional director.
"During this promotion period Lulu outlets in Riyadh and Alkhobar would be decorated with huge and colorful replicas of the famous landmarks and icons associated with Britain," said Shehim.
