The children, ages 1 and 3, arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday accompanied by their Norwegian foster parents.

Norway’s Child Welfare Service had taken the children from their Indian parents in May in the Norwegian town of Stavanger where the father works in the oil industry.

The agency said the parents appeared unable to look after the children and placed them in a foster home.

On Monday, the Stavanger District Court ruled that the custody of the children be given to their uncle and they be returned to India.
