Saudi exhibitors are taking part in The MidEast Watch & Jewelry Show in Sharjah.
The five-day event is featuring more than 450 exhibitors representing master jewelers and some of the leading jewelry chains from across the world.
“We have been participating in this exhibition for the last 10 years and we always receive good response” says Ayman Habash, the product manager of Riyadh based Kanz Al Sahraa Gold & Jewelry.
“Sharjah is a good point to attract business as the emirate receives a number of visitors from GCC countries,” he told Arab News.
“We may expand our business to the UAE in near future,” he said.
“Since our products are designed according to the taste of the Gulf citizens, we always get huge response from the region,” Ayman said.
“This time we expect more sale and better turn out because the gold price is low and festive season is here,” he said.
Saeed Habash, general manager of Kanz Al Sahraa Gold & Jewelry, told Arab News that they often participated exhibitions in Kuwait, Oman, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi as such events were very important for them.
“The MidEast Watch & Jewelry Show has perhaps never had such a perfect timing in its history — right from the upcoming festive season to one of the lowest gold prices and an economy that is back to its past glory. The second quarter had seen good demand for jewelry and after a lull in the summer months, the show will sure set the pace for sales in the last quarter,” Ahmed Mohammed Al-Midfa, chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Expo Center Sharjah, said in his opening speech.
“Aiming to add more value, the show is featuring seminars, organized by Gemology Institute of America, targeting those interested in knowing what actually goes into the making of their stunning jewellery designs,” Saif Mohammed Al-Midfa, added.
Gold is trading around $1,320 an ounce, some $600 below its September 2011 record high of $1,920.30 an ounce, making it highly attractive for jewelry lovers.
This time, the event is hosting the Italian Art Pavilion, featuring creations of Maurizio Fusari that are inspired by themes and motifs associated with the region.
Some of the premium creations that are being displayed at the Italian Art Pavilion include ‘Aisan Al-Arab’, the design of which is based on Arabian horses, the ‘Rawda’ inspired by the Arab garden, and the complex ‘Baab Al Haj’ jewel that denotes the pilgrimage to Makkah.
Another exciting component of the show is the Thailand Pavilion, which is showcasing dazzling gold & diamond jewelry under the brand ‘Ploi Thai’. National Pavilions at the show include Hong Kong-China, India, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore.
Riyadh-based Al-Daham For Watches and Jewelry also been participating the event with different types of modern jewelries.
Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al-Qassimi, chairman of Sharjah Sea Ports and Customs, opened the event.
