- A test could only be taken at accredited laboratories in 106 cities across 17 countries
DUBAI: UAE residents wanting to return to the Gulf country will have to be tested for COVID-19 three days before their flight, local government agencies have as announced.
Passengers without a coronavirus negative certificate will not be allowed to board their flight, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said.
They added the test could only be taken at accredited laboratories in 106 cities across 17 countries, which pledged to deliver fast and accurate results.
Those coming from countries without accredited laboratories can still return to the UAE, but they will have to complete another COVID-19 screening upon arrival and will be subject toa 14-day quarantine.
Upon arrival in the UAE, the returnees will be required to download a mobile application that will help the government track their health and compliance with quarantine rules.
Meanwhile, local authorities announced visa renewals in Dubai will now require medical fitness tests.
The new policy only affects visas issued in the emirate, local daily Khaleej Times reported.
The UAE only required medical exams for new visa applications.
