A consortium of Saudi-Malaysian-Chinese companies has laid the foundation stone for the first glass factory in Jazan with investments worth SR600 million, local media said.
Chairman of the Malaysian Centre and CEO of the Saudi Malaysian Industrial Development Holding Company (Smiko), Rashid Osman Jawhar, said the project will initially cover an area over 150,000 square meters.
The project will initially employ 200 workers where the rate of Saudis will reach 50 percent in the first three years and will rise gradually, he said.
He added that the project will work on the 24-hour basis and the production will reach maximum capacity during the first five years of the start of production.
He stressed that the vision of the trade agglomeration, which launches the project does not stop on this project.
“It will expand with a biggest ambition to create a partnership with the government and the private sector in technology transfer activities, manufacturing, telecommunications and information technology,” he said.
He added: “Tech Industrial enables the utilization of engineering and manufacturing technology to build products faster, simpler, and with optimal efficiency. In cooperation with Saudi businessmen we will be able to introduce new tools and technologies.”
