-
Abbas Akhavan
Abbas Akhavan’s seemingly straightforward “Untitled” features concrete blocks that showcase the artist’s long-time preoccupation with the environment, animals, weapons and property.
-
Rana Begum
Rana Begum’s steel “Fold” works delicately emulate the weightlessness of paper. “What I hope to create with my work is movement, an experience of walking through the city, of seeing the random,” the artist said.
-
Laleh Khorramian
Using her signature mono-typing technique, Laleh Khorramian’s “Landscape Scroll” explores the human condition and a offers sense of unknown mysticism.
-
Farhad Moshiri
In his monochromatic “First Snow” series, Farhad Moshiri uses his signature technique of hand-embroidering beads to illustrate photos he’s taken of a heavily snowed-in landscape outside of his studio.
-
Hayv Kahraman
Hayv Kahraman’s “Search: Ask One Prisoner to Come Close to Translate for Others” is connected to the artist’s past as an Iraqi immigrant. The deliberately punctured canvas is testament to the trauma of her experiences.
-
Sophia Al-Maria
Sophia Al-Maria’s “Everything Must Go” is a critical parody of consumerist culture that joins together the disconnected worlds of the military and cosmetic industries.
