‘Veneto-Saracenic’ bucket
This bronze bucket, which dates back to the 15th or early 16th century, is signed by craftsman Mahmud Al-Kurdi, who lived during that period. The body is finely worked with intricate geometric and arabesque designs.

‘A Mina‘I Bowl Fragment’ is a pottery fragment with a depiction of a rider on horseback, mounted within a clear perspex bowl.

Kashan pottery bowl
The interior of this turquoise glazed pottery bowl – that dates back to the 12th century – is decorated with a radiating split-palmette design and calligraphy below the rim.

Flaring bowl
This bronze piece dates back to the 13th century and is believed to have been found in Mosul. The wide flaring rim is inlaid with a continuous scene of armed knights mounted on horses, camels and elephants.

Majlis image
This illustration is of Timurid ruler Sultan Husayn Bayqara’s majlis (a gathering). The opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper shows a gathering of five men in an interior setting.

Brocade fragment
This silk carpet dates back to the second half of the 16th century. It features a repeated design of paired pheasants with dotted plumage and long tails in green, white and yellow.
