MIAMI, 10 August 2003 — The Miami Heat have signed free agent deals with forward John Wallace and center Loren Woods, the team announced on Friday.
A former first-round pick of the New York Knicks, the much-traveled Wallace spent a successful 2002-03 season in Greece where he averaged 24 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.0 steals in 10 regular season games.
Wallace has also played for the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns.
The 7-foot 1-inch Woods saw limited action in two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 1.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 98 games.
Fox Edits Out Bryant’s Comment as ‘Not Germane’
The Fox television network acknowleged Friday that it edited out part of a Kobe Bryant speech that was an apparent veiled reference to the Los Angeles Lakers star’s indictment on a rape charge in Colorado.
In an acceptance speech at the Teen Choice Awards this week, Bryant said, “An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere,” which was edited out of the broadcast version, network spokesman Scott Grogin told AFP from Los Angeles.
