RIYADH: Russian former professional mixed martial arts fighter and undisputed UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on Wednesday visited the Hira Cultural District in Makkah.
Situated next to the holy city’s Jabal Al-Nour landmark, the district covers around 67,000 square meters.
During his visit, Nurmagomedov — who was the longest-reigning UFC lightweight champ, holding the title from April 2018 to March 2021 — toured the Revelation Gallery and noted the high quality of the exhibition.
The cultural district houses other attractions such as the Museum of the Holy Qur’an, Saudi Coffee Museum, the Cultural Library, Hira Garden, Hira Cabins, the Cave of Hira, and shops, cafes, and restaurants.
The spacious Hira Garden contains rest places and the Hira Cabins mountain resort offers balcony views of Jabal Al-Nour, a private garden, and entertainment attic.
A paved road leads from the base of the mountain to the cave of Hira where the first Qur’anic verse was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
