JEDDAH, 8 April 2004 — The Jeddah Expatriates Darters International (JEDI) has finalized preparations for launching tomorrow the Open Singles tournament as prelude to its scheduled 8-month long series of singles and team event tournaments dubbed “Desert Dart Classic 2004”, sponsored by Giordano and First Quadrant ME (Galli Lozano Group), in cooperation with Orient Pearl Restaurant.
“Big turnout is expected this time with more stimulating actions in the eliminations round and thrilling matches in the quarterfinal are anticipated,” said JEDI officials, headed by Pres Jerry Quinto and VP Jess Labanda. The playoffs will adopt the round robin/ best-of-three legs “501” format during the elimination and quarterfinal rounds, and the ladder system in the final round of top 5 finishers.
Seeded respectively and automatic qualifiers on this event, the formidable trio of Class “O” darters, Caloy Jalbuna, Chris Amores and Roland Tabing are expected to face stiffer clash matches against most likely to qualify veteran Class “O” darters Jun Jison, Santi Divinagracia, Manny Neccesito, Rey Formanes, Pat Cortez, Fred Apaya, who are possible menaces to repeat their illustrious feats. Glittering trophies, plus a TV set for the champion and electronic items for 3 runners-up are at stake.
Outstanding records during the play will receive give-away items courtesy of the tournament’s cosponsors Rani Drinks, Nivea, Farnas Cargo, and Ed Pamintuan.
