RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a phone call with his counterpart from Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday.

According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the two officials reviewed the latest regional developments and discussed ongoing efforts to restore security and stability.

Also on Thursday, Prince Faisal held a phone call with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss the regional situation following the announcement of a US-Iran ceasefire, including the situation in Lebanon and ongoing efforts to address fighting there.

Their discussions comes a day before Pakistan is set to host talks between the US and Iran as part of diplomatic efforts to end the conflict that erupted after US and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28.

Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia welcomed progress toward a potential long-term agreement between Washington and Tehran, expressing hope that such a deal would enhance regional stability.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry reiterated the Kingdom’s support for a comprehensive agreement addressing the root causes of instability, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
