RIYADH: Saudi Arabia remains a vital anchor of stability, US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack said on Sunday after a visit to Riyadh.
“We are committed to honoring our shared values, supporting one another, and advancing peace through strength and mutual respect,” Barrack wrote in a post on X.
The envoy added that diplomacy proves its enduring power in times of regional confusion and chaotic interventions.
“My recent visit to Saudi Arabia reaffirmed this truth. Standing with our steadfast allies — His Majesty the King, HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the tireless efforts of HH Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan — reminds us of what true partnership means,” he added.
Prince Faisal received the envoy earlier on in the day and the two officials discussed the latest developments in Syria and ways to support stability in the country, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Views on issues of common interest were also exchanged during the meeting.
Barrack was in Damascus on Saturday where he was received by Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa.
