Open to Arab photographers who are based in the region and were born in or after 1980, this juried competition will culminate with a group exhibition for fifteen finalists at The Ayyam Art Center in Dubai from September 13 to 20. The panel of judges that will select featured artists will be comprised of experts in the field. All finalists will be invited to Dubai for the opening of the exhibition, which will be followed by the announcement of three top contestants on September 15. The first place winner will be awarded $6,500 USD, while $2,500 and $1,000 prizes will be given to second and third place finalists, respectively.
Potential contestants are invited to submit a proposal for a solo exhibition of twelve photographs in email or CD form. Limited to one entry per contestant, each proposal must include the title of the proposed exhibition, reproductions of the work that would provide the content of the show, an artist’s biography, and a brief explanatory essay. All entries must be marked “Shabab Ayyam Photography Competition” with the contestant’s name and contact information clearly stated. Proposals will be accepted until June 30 via a dedicated photo competition email [email protected] or in person to any Ayyam Gallery branch. Applicants are kindly requested to submit proposals in English or Arabic. Finalists will be announced on July 30. All announcements pertaining to the competition will be made online.
