AbbVie, a major biopharmaceutical company, has supported the establishment of a library for the Jeddah Disabled Children Association (DCA).

This initiative is part of the Week of Possibilities, AbbVie’s global program focusing on education. To make the activity more engaging and meaningful, around 60 AbbVie employees in Jeddah volunteered to assemble the furniture of the library on June 9.

“We are delighted with the new library since it greatly enhances our educational capabilities and will significantly enrich the lives of the children, said Zuhair Al-Maimani, center director of the DSA.

“Also, I must express my appreciation of AbbVie donating the funds to build the library for the DSA and the support given by AbbVie employees who volunteered their time to assemble the furnishings of the library and stock it with books,” he said.

“Improving education gives all children a better opportunity to realize their full potential,” said Rami Fayed, GM of AbbVie in Saudi Arabia. “We’re committed to that effort and we are very pleased to be given this opportunity to setup the library for the Jeddah DSA.”

The DCA was established to provide comprehensive care for disabled children through a range of free therapeutic and rehabilitation services. The association also aims to enlighten and educate society on the causes of disability and means of prevention, thus helping to promote more positive attitudes toward disabled people. It also supports the scientific research needed to establish effective programs.

Globally, AbbVie launched its second annual Week of Possibilities volunteer program, with 3,100 employees globally volunteering more than 14,000 service hours to transform schools and communities where AbbVie employees live and work.
