The wait is over. The North American International Automotive Show (NAIAS) opens its doors on Monday to world press reviews.

The annual event is the biggest show of the industry in North America and includes many international debuts by world auto companies.

Among the main reveals are BMW M235i, M3 Sedan, and M4 Coupe.

Cadillac will reveal the new ATS and Chevrolet will un-wrap the Corvette Z06.

Among the main concepts to be revealed are Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, a Nissan Sports Sedan, Volvo XC Coupe and the Acura TLX Prototype.

Also, Lexus is due to reveal the new F Model while Audi is set to uncover a compact sports car.

The organizers have arranged for 40 media events during the first two days of press previews.

More than 5,000 journalists are expected to attend.

The first auto show was held in Detroit in 1907 and since then annually except between 1943 and 1952.

It was renamed NAIAS in 1989 and is held at the Cobo Center over one million square feet of floor space.

The show draws its importance from the fact that Detroit is home for the big three American automakers: General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.
