Nadia Dandachi is an emerging young talent as a pianist. Her live performances or videos on Youtube suggest that Nadia has a bright future as an accomplished pianist.

The Saudi pianist is graceful and passionate, yet she is gradually proving to herself and the community that she is a force to reckon with. In a community where it’s hard to get recognition for one’s art, Nadia used YouTube to educate the Saudi community about the piano and the art of piano playing and thus be an inspiration to the youth.

Nadia started out with playing song covers but has now turned to writing her own compositions. Her confidence and hard work must be saluted. Indeed, for this classy, young and talented soul, the sky is the limit.

Arab News had a quick chat with Nadia about her art, life, dreams and aspirations:

When did you realize you loved the piano?

I’ve loved the piano for as long as I can remember. My parents first noticed my passion for music when I used to spend hours playing on a little toy keyboard they bought me when I was 3 years old.

Your YouTube Channel has a lot of covers, but I am more interested in your original compositions. What inspires you?

I am inspired by strong emotions. I often compose after feeling moved by something happening in my life, or after being deeply affected by events taking place around the world, for example (like my composition dedicated to Syria). Every piece has its own story or meaning. My latest composition entitled “Self-Portrait” is about myself.

What’s your dream?

I have many dreams, but I’d say my priority is to grow into the successful doctor that I wish to be. I also want to inspire people, especially new talents, through the piano. I hope that music will someday grow big in our community, and that people will appreciate this beautiful form of art.

What’s your dream of performing on stage?

Royal Albert Hall, no doubt!

Behind the notes is the voice of a young woman. Do you think your music makes up for your silence?

I’m not silent; the music I play on the black and white keys IS my voice.

How often do you find yourself inspired? Is it random or within a designated time frame?

Inspiration just comes to me whenever it’s time for it or I’m ready. So I’d say it’s random. But when it does, it happens all at once and I can finish an entire piece in a very short time. I never force it, because whatever emotions it makes me want to let go of… they’re always pure and come from the bottom of my heart!

From the comments you receive on YouTube, what has been the most memorable one?

Oh, I can remember almost every single one of them. I truly appreciate every comment that I receive, and always keep them close to my heart, whether they are from YouTube/ Twitter/ or any other social network. The more people encourage me, the less I want to let anyone down, and the more I want to keep achieving! -I’ll take this chance to thank everyone who has ever supported me, especially my Twitter followers. Love you all!

What would you tell a person who’s against music?

Music is not only a beautiful form of art and a way to “hear” feelings, but it is also a form of healing for the soul. What’s more, it has many beneficial, scientifically proven and positive effects on education in children. Why would anyone be against something so beneficial and beautiful? What is life without art? Nothing.

Besides playing piano, what are your hobbies?

I have a wide range of interests in different fields. I play other instruments; I enjoy reading books, and playing different kinds of sports. I also really like learning new languages.

Any chance of you putting your personal compositions in an album?

Yes, I will hopefully be working on my first album very, very soon.

Who do you support from the local artists in Saudi Arabia?

Every single one of them! I believe our country is home to uncountable hidden talents, in all forms of art, and it always makes me very happy to find more of them rising up and showing the world what beauty they’re capable of!
