The orphans and their families of Arbtat-Jeddah, a voluntary, non-profit organization, enjoyed breakfast with an outdoors activity group at a restaurant in Jeddah on Friday.

“The event was a reminder that we should always remember our orphan brothers and sisters. That needs no special occasion. Orphans and families are welcome to a day of fun in a family environment where they can enjoy an Italian breakfast, make their own pizza, and win delightful giveaways,” said Ameer Mohammed, founder and group leader of the Jeddah Backpackers group. “This event was organized as our social reasonability,” he added.

Jeddah Backpackers is a non-profit initiative seeking amateur hikers and adventure enthusiasts to encourage them to support individuals and groups that need help.

Mohammed further said that the group is committed to organizing more events for orphan children. These events are a perfect chance to let the orphans break out of their daily routine and for them to feel there are people that care for them outside of the orphanage.

“The children who came to the breakfast with their families have some medical problems as well. Through this event we just want to bring a smile on their faces, let them feel special. We organized some outdoors trips for them as well. We decided to repeat this get-together on a weekly basis with different charities to help and create a friendly environment for our orphan brothers and sisters,” said Mohammed.

He also said in Saudi Arabia, 20 percent of children are classified as orphans and the number is rising. Members of the community may ask themselves what they can do to help the orphan children in their society. Orphan children do not only need financial support, but more importantly, they are in great need of love and compassion to help them overcome psychological trauma.
