Controversial Pakistani actress Veena Malik is in the Kingdom to perform Umrah.

She has arrived in Makkah along with her husband Asad Bashir, sources who met the couple have confirmed to Arab News.

Earlier, Malik tweeted: “By the grace of Allah Almighty I and my husband (are) leaving for Umrah and I am extremely overwhelmed and thankful to Allah Almighty.” She also apologized through a video message for her previous actions and words that might have hurt anyone.

Her journey to the Holy City has grabbed the attention of Pakistani media. Known for controversies and obscene videos and photos, Malik has acted in some Indian and Pakistani films.

In a recent interview, she had said: “I am a religious woman; my religion is none of other’s concern, it’s between me and Allah and I will go for Umrah soon.” She also committed to leave Indian movies and said she would not accept vulgar roles in movies.

Malik also promised to cover her head as per the teachings of Islam.

She married Pakistani businessman Bashir in Dubai recently.
