DAMMAM: A Saudi driver’s car jammed at 180 kms per hour and he had to drive more than 50 kms before he could safely control it. The driver, in his 30s, was going from Riyadh toward the Eastern Province, some 400 kms away, with his cruise speed control on when his car suddenly picked up speed.
All his attempts to slow it down failed and he called the traffic police who guided him through his ordeal and made sure there were no obstacles on the highway, local site Sabq reported yesterday.
He was able to control the car only when it was about 30 kms from Dammam. The driver came out of the vehicle totally shaken by the terrible experience, Sabq said. “He is doing fine now,” Musaed Al-Harithi, the acting spokesperson for the Eastern Province police, said.
“The cruise speed eventually was unblocked just before the traffic checkpoint on the Riyadh–Dammam highway. We are now taking the regular procedures followed in such cases,” he said.
