This is in reference to the letter written by Anees Lokhande on Sanjay Dutt. Reading the justifications he put forward as to why Sanjay Dutt should be pardoned amazes me. No doubt Sanjay Dutt carries the genes of his famous parents Sunil Dutt and Nargis but who are Katju, Anees or film fraternity from Bollywood to demand pardon for him.

Did Dutt ever ask them when he purchased the assault rifles illegally from the traitors? His parents and he himself are stars in movies, just because of the common people of India. It’s their hard-earned money that made them stars. Dutt’s family, his generosity or his good behavior does not matter here. The law stipulates five years of imprisonment for illegal procession of arms.

He has endured a year and half, another three and half years more to go. Sanjay Dutt is no angel; he was in bad company, probably aware of the plot to carry out serial blasts in Mumbai. Dutt’s imprisonment Yaqub Memon’s hanging sentence will bring some closure to the family members of those who lost their loved ones in those blasts.
