This is with reference to the report “New academy to train youths for tourism jobs” (March 12). It sure is a great decision. Saudi authorities are working overtime to promote tourism sector as part of the plan to do away with heavy reliance on oil revenues. The establishment of an academy will greatly help those who are interested in joining the tourist industry. Training is very important to boost tourism in Saudi Arabia. The academy should focus on communication skills and trainees should be taught about ways to deal with people in a polite manner. In addition to that hotels and other facilities should be ensured near all heritage sites so as to encourage people to visit those places.
