This is with reference to the report “Haia ‘does not harass people’” (Feb. 26). I do agree with Haia President Abdul Rahman Al-Sanad.

Those who oppose even the very existence of Haia want to impose western ideals of freedom on Muslims. I have nothing against those ideals per se but they are not in line with the teachings of Islam. I, however, do believe that Haia needs to introduce reforms in the way it functions and its members need to learn proper and effective communication skills. We should not judge Haia on the basis of a few isolated incidents involving Haia members. The commission never hesitates in taking action against its own officials if they are found guilty of any wrongdoing. What else people want?
