RIYADH: Robbers in the capital stole on Monday valuables from the cars of expats who have gone on vacation.
Ten cars in a row were broken into in the Aziziyah District in the capital.
Police said massive steps would be taken to nab the culprits.
Earlier, police had issued an alert urging people not to leave valuables inside cars and to lock houses properly while going on long holidays.
“It is very sad to see breaking in of over 10 cars in one night, which took place on the day I returned from vacation,” Hameed Mowlana, a business executive whose car was targeted, told Arab News on Tuesday.
The only consolation was that the robbers smashed the smallest glasses through which they could open the doors and ransack the vehicle, he said. “I left my car with a close friend who took utmost care of the vehicle except for this unfortunate incident.”
Recently, police busted a 10-member gang, comprising three Saudis, who stole cars, dismantled them and sold their parts at a local market.
