RIYADH: Grand Mufti Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has praised the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) for the work it is carrying out in the Kingdom.

Meeting with Haia officials at King Abdulaziz Historical Center on Monday in Riyadh, Al-Asheikh urged Haia members to be patient so that they could receive rewards from Allah.

The Haia members were led by the organization’s President Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Sanad.

Al-Asheikh said Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent to promote virtue and prevent vice. He quoted from Surah Al-Imran Verse 110: “You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.”

He said Allah favored the nation of Mohammed (pbuh), made it the best nation and made its Shariah a complete and comprehensive approach characterized by compassion and tolerance.

“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion,” he said quoting from Al-Ma’idah, Verse 3.

He said Allah Almighty sent Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with a public and comprehensive message for all mankind. “And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds,” he quoted from Al-Anbiya, Verse 107.

Later, Al-Asheikh responded to questions raised by Haia members and received a memorial shield from Al-Sanad, who thanked the grand mufti for the meeting.
