RIYADH: Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed called on senior Saudi officials and discussed various issues of mutual interest in order to bolster bilateral cooperation.
Indian Embassy Spokesman Hifzur Rahman said the envoy met Asir Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khalid in Abha on Tuesday and discussed issues of bilateral interest.
“During the meeting, the ambassador put special emphasis on further strengthening and diversifying bilateral relations in various fields of mutual interest,” he said. The envoy also expressed his sincere thanks to the Asir governor for hosting a large number of Indian community members in the province and ensuring their safety and welfare.
Javed had also met Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) earlier in which the two had discussed a number of issues concerning mutual cooperation, especially in the fields of tourism and culture, and their discussion focused on diversifying bilateral engagements in various fields, Rahman told Arab News.
Moreover, during the meeting, Prince Sultan expressed his fondness of Indian culture with special mention of Indian arts and architecture, said Rahman.
“Prince Sultan expressed his desire to benefit from India’s expertise in the fields of arts, architecture, restoration of national heritages, the handicrafts sector, calligraphy and carvings in the marble stone and wooden structure,” he said.
The Indian envoy assured the SCTNH president of all cooperation in further strengthening the cultural and tourism linkages between the two countries.
Bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism will receive a boost and the cooperation agreement will help strengthen economic developments as both Saudi and Indian tourism continue to grow, both in volume and value.
Earlier, the Indian ambassador called on Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif and discussed issues of bilateral interest with special emphasis on further strengthening engagements in the fields of trade and investment.
Javed also visited the Asharqia Chamber and met its secretary-general, Abdul Rahman Al-Wabel and other senior officials of the chamber seeking cooperation.
