AMMAN: A Saudi citizen, Naif Al-Khaldi, who went to Amman to undergo medical treatment, had his vehicle stolen in front of his hotel with his 5 children and housemaid still inside. The horrifying incident prompted a high speed chase and the perpetrator was finally caught by Saudi and Jordanian citizens after the vehicle flipped over.
“Saudi citizens Fawaz Jayed Al-Anzi and Khaled Al-Otaibi and Jordanian citizens Ibrahim and Amer Al-Damour are the ones who chased the thief and caught him, not as what was reported by the Jordanian press,” he said.
He said he had parked his car outside a hotel in Al-Jabeeha in Amman and went inside to book a flat for his family, but upon going outside the hotel saw a man stealing the car with his family still inside. “I tried to prevent him but he sped off, so I appealed to a number of Saudis and Jordanians for help,” he explained. “I rode in a car with the Jordanians, when the Saudi citizens noticed my wife in the middle of street and picked her up with his family. They called the Jordanian police to report the theft and kidnapping.”
The thief drove the car incredibly fast while being chased, which led him to lose control of the vehicle until it flipped over.
People immediately rushed to rescue the children, none of whom were hurt, and the driver ran away. He was chased and caught by the Saudi and Jordanian citizens until the police came and he was arrested.
Al-Khaldi said the Saudi Embassy in Jordan provided his family tremendous assistance and expressed his gratitude to the ambassador, Prince Khaled bin Faisal, for his efforts and constant service to his family.
