JEDDAH: The Ministry of Interior has supported the directive by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development aiming to achieve total Saudization of sales outlets and maintenance shops of mobile phones and their accessories in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, an array of public agencies have joined forces to implement the regulation as the first phase of its plan to replace 50 percent of expat workers with Saudis started on June 6 and the full replacement of them in the second phase by Sept. 2.
Officials from MOI are working hand in hand to track down violators of labor and residency regulations in the telecommunication sector, in cooperation with the Ministries of Commerce and Investment, Municipal and Rural affairs and Communication and IT.
Khaled Aba Al-Khail, spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, commended the Interior Ministry’s efforts and others to carry out inspection campaigns on telecom shops across all regions of the Kingdom with the aim of nationalizing mobile sales personnel and maintenance jobs.
Abalkhail emphasized that his ministry and the involved entities would continue to execute inspection visits to shops selling mobile phones and accessories as the sector is vital to generate stable and lucrative job opportunities for Saudi males and females alike.
In this respect, he has called upon labor parties to report Saudization violations via the website (rasd.ma3an.gov.sa) as all tip-offs will be handled promptly, in a move that will ensure the improvement and development of the labor market.
The ministry is keeping an eye on violations committed by establishments and expat workers in the sector by receiving stakeholders’ reports on the customer service no. (19911), the spokesman said in reference to other channels that pin down violators.
