A group of overseas Filipino workers have called on the Philippine government to audit both the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) funds amid reports of massive corruption especially during the former administration.

Rashid Arañas Fabricante, a senior expat community member, said Filipinos are fully aware of rampant corruption in their country. However, he could not provide any statistics regarding the issue.

“We need to plan a strategy to help Philippine get rid of corrupt politicians, sending all these people to jail,” Fabricante said.

In his campaign on social networking media, Fabricante disclosed how “the government is exploiting 12 million overseas Filipinos. He vowed to continue efforts to liberate the overseas Filipino sector from local domination. “As overseas Filipinos, we will start analyzing and recommend proper action on the Commission on Audit (COA) Audited Financial Statements of OWWA and the POEA,” he added.
