JEDDAH: The emergency committee at the Yemeni Endowment and Religious Guidance Ministry is racing against time to complete the procedures for Yemeni pilgrims wishing to perform Haj and Umrah rituals this year.
The committee, charged with the task of facilitating the issues and affairs of Yemeni pilgrims, is headquartered at Al-Wadia border crossing under the direct supervision of Fuad Omar bin Ali bin Al-Sheikh Abu Baker, minister of endowments and religious guidance in Yemen, according to a report in a local newspaper.
Official sources told the newspaper that the committee managed to acquire the necessary visas for the employees who will regulate the affairs of the pilgrims in Makkah and the holy sites, in addition to the food and medical services arrangements.
The emergency committee, meanwhile, is working on dispatching 19,404 Yemeni pilgrims, through eight batches, at a rate of 2,500 pilgrims for each batch.
According to an official at the committee, Yemeni pilgrims should not pay heed to the rumors launched by malicious parties inside Yemen, and that the Yemeni Haj mission is still operating with the coordination of the relevant bodies in Saudi Arabia, including the Ministries of Haj and Interior, and that all Yemenis can perform the Haj regardless of any sectarian or doctrinal issues.
