RIAYDH: The complete operations of hall number five at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh opened on Saturday, after two months of experimental operations from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. for domestic flights.

Sources confirmed that operations will be limited to Flynas domestic flights with 40 flights per day. The situation will then be evaluated for all operational matters.

All domestic flights of Saudi Arabia Airlines will be moved to hall number five next week and other domestic halls will undergo maintenance.

King Khalid International Airport’s director, Abdul Aziz Abu Harba, and the work team will be found in the new hall continuously monitoring the flight operations and workflow, as well as listening to passengers’ comments.

Abu Harba said experimental operations will be gradual and time is needed to discover any problems before transferring all passengers to the new hall.

Many passengers stopped at the new devices in the travel procedures’ location as they got their boarding cards, to answer questions about their satisfaction with travel procedures.

Abu Harba said customer satisfaction devices have been installed by the General Authority of Civil Aviation to find out the quality of services offered to passengers, “since we all aim to serve travelers the minute they enter the airport until they board the plane and vice versa.”

Abu Harba said new restaurants will be set up in addition to coffee shops, to offer quality services and markets. He pointed out that there will be free Internet connection and devices to strengthen mobile phone signals, in addition to other matters that facilitate travel.

The hall is designed to serve around 12 million passengers annually with more than 60 devices to check luggage and 20 self-service devices. The hall is built over 106,000 square meters, has 30 elevators, 21 escalators, five 415-meter-long luggage belts, car parks that can accommodate 3,000 cars, in addition to direct linkage with the Riyadh Metro, reported Alwatan.
