TABUK/ANKARA: A Saudi woman complained that her five children have been missing for a year, after they were allegedly kidnapped by their father who left them in one of the refugee camps on the Turkish-Syrian border.

The mother told a Saudi daily that the embassy had informed her that the children were in a dangerous place difficult to reach.

She said she had the legal right to keep her five children with her after the divorce, but is now trying to get them back from the Syrian refugee camp where the father allegedly left them.

She also said that her former husband tricked her into believing that he had taken them to one of the amusement centers of Riyadh They did not come back home and their father moved them out of the country, she said.

The youngest child is one and a half and the oldest is 10.

The mother pleaded with the Ministry of Interior to intervene in the matter and rescue her children.

She said her eldest daughter has an autoimmune disease, her sister has problems with her eyesight and all of them need care.

Arab News talked to Dr. Adil Mirdad, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Turkey, about the issue. He said the ministry was aware of the mother’s plight.

“We have got her papers and forwarded them to the concerned authorities in the Kingdom,” he said.

Asked if whether he knew where the children are, the ambassador said: “Their father and mother know where they are.”
