NEW YORK: The “Saudis in America” group, which is involved in voluntary work and service to students and people in general in America, celebrated its eighth year since its foundation on July 22.
The group was set up in 2008 to serve Saudi students in America and has become one of the largest student volunteer organizations providing academic, social and media services.
M. Ghassan Jamal, executive president of the group, said “Saudis in America” has achieved a lot during the last eight years by participating and maintaining a permanent presence in various activities and forums. It is also a voice of students keen to be heard in the media.
He said that the team of the voluntary organization comprising 100 members, male and female, who have contributed with their ideas, efforts and whatever they felt would benefit students during their stay in the United States. This has become largest Gulf student organization in the world. The organization has more than 650 members spread all across the US to answer questions related to academic and life-related issues.
About the future of the group, Ghassan said that during the coming period there would be lots of improvements and work in partnership with academic companies and organizations, including investments in capabilities of youths after they graduate so that a number of voluntary projects are started to serve the society.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Omari, deputy executive president of the organization, congratulated the members of the organization on its completion of eight years. He said that it was making efforts to provide services to the students and promoting spirit of collective works.
There are 500,000 followers of “Saudis in America” on social media through which it is trying to expand its base and strengthen contact and relations with students in the US.
