JEDDAH: The Saudi German Hospital Bowling Club (SGHBC) celebrated its first year anniversary with a one-day tournament last Friday at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
Out of the 12 teams that participated in the five-man team competition Gutter Punks went all the way to the title, topping the eliminations and winning the finals that featured the six qualifiers which battled each other in two games.
Gutter Punks totaled 1,333 pinfalls (681-652) to convincingly beat Green Hawks who settled for second place on 1,297 (714-583). Third place were the MTM Strikers who tallied 1,272 pinfalls on games of 642-630. Home Care and Lucky Strikers came in 4th and 5th respectively on 1,232 (601-631) and 1,212 (591-621), while Incredibowls finished 6th on 1,124 (548-576).
The Gutter Punks team members and their scores during the finals are as follows: Lando Viray 141-100, Jay Manuel Arcenas 134-154, Princess 151-144, Nelvin Abitong 130-124 and Keith Albert Reyes125-130.
For Green Hawks the scorers were Goldie Buhat 167-132, Sibtul Hassan 147-132, Awais Ashraf 121-89, Adnan Tahir 138-105 and Awais Haider 141-118. The MTM Strikers had Jamal 144-164, Sahid 150-121, Ameer 147-108, Marijet 112-137 and Ikram 89-100; Home Care Raquel Bitang 105, Shahid 129-140, Edwin Cruz 119-115, Ali 123-115, Adel Mahmoud 125-152 and Irene Huit 109; Lucky Strikers Murshed 129-146, Mirna 101-96, Hani 127, Shahid 115, Ragab 119, Khattab 131, LIto 139 and Ryan 109; Incredibowls Dan 102-154, Dr. Raed 99, Carol 128-118, Arun 143-130, Marlon 76-103 and Mahboob 71.
The individual high game award winners were Nelvin Abitong (Gutter Punks) 174 and Goldie Buhat (Green Hawks) 168 in the men’s and ladies divisions.
The winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes during the prize distribution ceremony that followed the final games. Raffle draws also added to the fun event.
The club activities enjoy the support of SGH management led by Dr. Ezz Al Arab, COO SGH Jeddah; Dr. Mohammed Ewais, CEO SGH Jeddah and HR Recreation Manager Mohammed Gamal.
The SGHBC officers are: Usop P. Abinal, director; Dr. Mohammed Khattab, adviser; Ding Usop, chairman; Bhel Rojo Ellevera, vice-chairwoman and Mohammed Hossieny, event coordinator. The committee members are all team captains.
