Tabuk soldier’s killer arrested

JEDDAH: Security forces in Tabuk arrested the killer of army soldier Abdullah Nasser Al-Rashidi, who was shot dead on Monday as he headed to work in Tabuk.
Initial investigations showed that the killer belongs to the Daesh terrorist group. Seven other people involved in the crime were arrested.
Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki said Al-Rashidi was shot as he was driving his private car on Ring Road in Tabuk on Nov. 20. “Security forces were able to identify the killer and arrest him on Wednesday.”
The killer was identified as Hail bin Za’al bin Mohammed Al-Atwi, a Saudi citizen. He was in possession of the rifle used in the commission of the crime.
Al-Atwi confessed to his crime and said he was driven by the ideology of the Daesh terrorist group and that he acted in response to the group’s orders to target members of the military.
Police and investigating him and the other persons arrested, and new updates will be announced as soon as they occur, Al-Turki said.
