At least 50,000 people are expected to visit the fourth productive family meet and exhibition in Jeddah scheduled to open on Jan. 11.
"More than 700 productive families will participate in the three-day event organized by the chamber,’’ said Adnan Mandourah, secretary-general of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).
Chairman of the JCCI Saleh Kamil, who also heads the ‘We Are All Producers’ Project, said a number of topics of interest to those families who plan to work at home will be discussed at the meet including how to obtain a trading license, strike partnerships with businessmen, sources of financing and merits of collective work.
"The event will be a valuable opportunity for women, students of both sexes, and retirees who want to increase their income by working at home,’’ Kamil said while appealing to various sections of society to attend the meet and accompanying expo.
The expo will showcase products such as meals and food items and woven fabrics apart from many other products handcrafted at home.
President of the events, Ahmed Al-Hamadan, said the first session of the meet will deal with licenses issued by ministries and other authorities for the trade a family plans to start such as the Ministry of Municipal and Rural affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, mayoralty offices and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
“The second session in which civilian and charity organizations will participate, plans to discuss the advantages of collective work, cooperative societies and cooperative commercial companies,” Al-Hamadan said.
Another session will discuss various aspects of marketing and collaboration with businessmen and companies dealing in food products and clothes and the financing opportunities available to manufacturing families, he said.
The sittings will also discuss topics such as the design of products and method of display and packing of products. “On the last day, owners of the most beautiful stall and the most successful marketer will be selected and awarded a prize,” he said.
