Jazan Police has opened a probe into the case of a 14-year-old child who was severely beaten by his father and was admitted to Jazan Hospital, local media said quoting a spokesman of Jazan Health Affairs, Mohamed Sumaili.
Medical tests revealed that the child received bruises on his face, abdomen and back but there were no internal injuries following the physical assault, Al-Riyadh daily said quoting the spokesman.
Sumaili informed that members from the Commission of Protection from domestic violence visited the child and acquainted the concerned parties with the incident.
Commenting on the abuse, supervisor of the National Society for Human Rights in Jazan Region Ahmed Al-Bahkli said the incident was still under investigation and will be dealt with according to the law.
Jazan Governorate has also called on the experts in the Ministry of Social Affairs, research centers, and universities to conduct researches on such incidents and come up with solutions in order to minimize the adverse effects of domestic violence on society.
