A Pakistani expatriate has been stabbed to death by another man of his own nationality in the cabin of a high rise crane, 70 meters above the ground. The incident occurred at a building site connected to the Jazan university campus project, recently.
‘’Taj Ahmed, 53, attacked another Pakistani worker in his 50’s with a knife by stabbing his neck. The men were working with 100 other laborers under a contracting company responsible for the university project. Ahmed climbed into the crane cabin and stabbed the operator three times in his neck. The workers suspected that something was out of place when the assailant came down dripping with blood and carrying a blood stained knife,” said the spokesman of Jazan Police, Major Abdul Rahman Al-Zahrani.
“The culprit was arrested instantly by security patrols, and police are now in the process of completing initial procedures such as referring the case to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution. The victim’s body is being preserved at the Jazan General Hospital morgue,’’ Al-Zahrani said.
Asghar Ali, a Pakistani who was present at the work site, said that the killer and his victim were staying in the same building until three months ago when they parted ways to live at separate camps.
Another eye witness who was present at the site added that all of the workers rushed toward the murderer when they had realised what had happened, and bound him with a rope and restrained him until the police arrived. the victim was bleeding profusely from the wounds in the back of his neck at this time.
Friends of the two Pakistanis did not have any suggestions regarding the motives of the murder, and said that the murderer served as the imam at their camp in all five prayers, adding that both of the men were gentle and that no body had any complaint about them until this incident.
