I fully agree with Abdulateef Al-Mulhim that foreign nationals in any country should respect the laws of their host country, especially if they are resident for a longer period. (“Andree, you knew better,” Oct. 19)
What I find ironic is that the complaints about ill-treatment of this 74-year-old British “grandfather” are coming from Britain, a country which itself was brought before the European Court of Human Rights and found guilty of torture in Northern Ireland.
It will be better if a campaign is launched to highlight the positive and compassionate aspects of the Shariah law. Such campaign could also put in right perspective the image of Muslims, countries like Saudi Arabia and Islam that are otherwise have been distorted by Islamophobic elements in Europe. — Winfried Eamon Scheidges, Alkhobar
