Call PKK men terrorists

The news item “More than 5,000 Kurdish militants killed since July” (March 29), a member of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) terrorist organization was mentioned as “militants,” although the front has been declared as a terrorist outfit by the US, European Union and many other countries.

The PKK has been involved in terrorist activity inside Turkey for almost 30 years and those killed in attacks were civilians, doctors, teachers, technicians, journalists, women, children and security men.

Only a month ago, the PKK was involved in a suicide bombing at a bus stop in Ankarar that claimed the lives of 35 people, all of them civilians.

Hence, those associated with the PKK should be called terrorists and not militants as mentioned in the report of your newspaper. — Goktug Talipoglu, By e-mail
