RIYADH: Riyadh Court of Appeals Chairman Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al-Hamid said that the cases of 400 prisoners will be finished before the Eid-Al Fitr holidays.
“We will work during Eid to finalize all issues related to a directive to apply the regulations of speeding up the pardon for prisoners so that they could join their relatives,” Al-Hamid said.
He said that the move is in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council to accelerate the implementation of instructions on amnesty for prisoners in the Kingdom.
Al-Hamid also said that nine judges and 22 employees of the Court of Appeals will be working during Eid Al-Fitr holidays to ensure that the 400 cases can be finalized as soon as possible.
“This will mean the release of the prisoners who are eager and happy to go back to their respective families who are waiting for them,” he said.
Al-Hamid expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of Riyadh Municipality, especially the region’s governor, Prince Faisal bin Bandar.
“I thank Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar for all the support and cooperation that we have received so that we could act with dispatch on the cases,” he said.
He noted that Riyadh governor is keen to ensure that all transactions at the Court of Appeals be finished as soon as possible and the issuance of directives be received from the court.
