Imam Bukhari Madrassa’s Sports Day on the Red Sea coast was a big success with the participation of more than 700 children. Hifzurrahman, president of Saudi-Indian Football Federation, opened the event, offering all his full support to the institution.
The event began with a marvelous marchpast by the participating athletes who were divided into Blue, Red, Yellow and White houses. A band troupe led by Samir added color to the procession, which was supervised by Kabir, a physical education instructor at International Indian School Jeddah.
The leaders of different houses saluted chief guest Hifzurrahman in the presence of Abdul Shukur Ali, chief patron of the madrassa, Abid Hussein, general convener, CH Basheer, coordinator and other officials.
Competitions were held separately for boys and girls in running, relay, gold hunt, hand shoot, leg shoot, musical chair, and slow cycle in eight places with the support of volunteers.
Muhammad Shibin (senior), Nabeel (sub-junior) and Fatima Ziyad were individual champions. Red House in boys were the overall champions while White and Yellow houses shared the championship for girls.
Younus Ahmed, general manager of Naseem Jeddah Polyclinic, the main sponsor of the event, was the chief guest during the prize distribution ceremony. Ahmed, Jamal Alwaye, N.K. Raheem, Abdul Shukoor Ali, Muhammad Ismail, Abid Hussein, Mumthas V., Shamina Aziz, CH Basheer, Bushra Sulaiman, principal of the madrassa, distributed prizes to the winners.
