ACTVET puts spotlight on UAE’s brightest talent

A selection of elite Emirati student projects from vocational high schools and higher education institutes across the UAE displaying the latest in technological innovation will be on show to coincide with the beginning of the new academic year.
Ten stand-out student projects from campuses under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) will be on display at NAJAH Education, Training and Careers exhibition, taking place from Oct. 16-18 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, before going on to compete in the Emirates Skills National Competition early next year.
In all, five student projects from ACTVET’s high school campuses across the UAE, and five from its higher education campuses in Abu Dhabi will be selected to be showcased at NAJAH, with all finalists to be chosen in September.
Suhail Saleh Al-Mansouri, senior officer of corporate affairs at ACTVET said that the display of projects at NAJAH is a great way of showcasing the latest in innovative ideas that Emirati talent has to offer as the Abu Dhabi government looks to increase the rate of young Emiratis studying vocational and technical education in the emirate to 30 per cent by 2016.
“Vocational and technical training is an essential part of the UAE educational system, and a technically skilled workforce in areas such as aerospace, nuclear energy, the semiconductor industry, and other vocational sectors are crucial to the development and diversification of our economy,” said Al-Mansouri.
“The display of top student projects at NAJAH from our campuses across the UAE will demonstrate the vocational skills and knowledge our students have developed, whilst also showing that they are ready to take the step up into further studies or move into gainful employment.”
A regular exhibitor at the event, ACTVET will again be a key attraction at ADNEC.
