RIYADH, 26 October — Faisal Saif played savior role when he scored first goal for Al Nasr against Al Shabab nine minutes before the close of the game in the first round of the King Fahd Cup being played in Riyadh at Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium last weekend.
Both the teams did not show their usual skill as they were playing with no definite strategy or aim. They missed many chances on their way.
But Al Shabab brought some life back to the game when in the final canton Abdul Aziz Al-Khathran converted a penalty. It seemed they will win the match but their joy was short-lived as Faisal Saif of Al Nasr equalized after four minutes via a kick outside from the penalty area.
The match ended 1-1 draw. Both the goals were scored in the second half.
In another match at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, Al Ittihad outplayed Al Ahli 2-1 in the Championship Cup. Al Ittihad showed their superiority and dominated the field throughout the game.
Brazilian striker Sergio scored both goals for Al Ittihad in the 2nd and 8th minute of the first half.
The first goal was achieved with very fast moves following the concerted efforts of Muhammad Noor, Manaf Abu Shaqir, and Jerson.
The second goal was also scored from a beautiful pass by the Brazilian minutes later who missed no chance to net in.
The solitary goal by Al Ahli was scored by Khaled Al-Kahooji in the 38th minute.
However, Al Ittihad maintained their lead till the end of the game.
