JEDDAH, 16 November — Seiko-Electro Industries defeated Al Yanabie 66-54 in the Seiko-JBL basketball tournament held in Crowne Plaza hotel basketball court. The game was decided in the fourth quarter when Seiko-Electro Industries applied a man to man defense to silence the offensive moves of Al Yanabie. Rey Buhat of Al Yanabie tried hard but missed the charity shots in the fourth quarter of the game. Macalma scored 22 points for Seiko-Electro Industries while Joaquin and Collado scored 15 points a piece for Al Yanabie Advertising.
Samba Speedcash escape a near defeat at the hands of Crowne Plaza hotel 73-72. It was a ding-dong battle between the two ball clubs. Crowne Plaza even under dog in the game showed their might especially in the fourth quarter but missed the winning free throws in the dying seconds. Bull strong Bondoc top score with 36 points for Samba Speed Cash while Magallanes scored 16 points for Crowne Plaza Hotel.
In Friday’s game, Fitaihi Jewellers beat Bupa Middle East 84-71. Fitaihi Jewellers caught Bupa in their off night. Bupa was not able to hit the target and committed too many passing errors. Fitaihi Jewellers with Jong Agustin manning the boards and scored 19 points while Balajadia was top scorer with 25 points for Bupa.
In the other game, Sames Pest Control scored their second straight victory against Zuhair Fayez, 83-66. Both teams displayed organized basketball up to the third quarter. Ronald Batarao run havoc all over the floor and scored 30 points for Sames Pest Control while Oppus was top scorer with 15 points for Zuhair Fayez.
In the other match, Al Arabi Decors beat Jologs 69-68. Al Arabi was ahead with 3 points with 12 seconds remaining, Villanueva of Jologs fired a desperation three points shot and scored the tying basket. With only 5 seconds remaining, Larry Sunga received an inbound pass and accidentally fouled for two shots. Sunga top score with 15 points for Al Arabi decor while Jason Villanueva scored 31 points for Jologs.
In the Inter-Hotel category, Westin Hotel beat Seiko-Marriott hotel 90-81. The game was marred by an all-around game of John Gatchalian. Taking the rebound offensively and defensively, attacking the defense and block the important shots. Seiko Marriott hotel tried to sneak back to the game in the last quarter with their man to man defense but later lose their steam. Gatchalian scored 23 points supported by Pordan with 22 points for Westin hotel while Cuison top score with 25 points for Seiko-Marriott hotel.

Meanwhile, JBL-Sames Invitational basketball tournament is set to start on Dec. 21 at the Sames Pest Control basketball court, Bagdadiyah district, Madina Road near Balad. The tournament is open to inter-company bona fide team and non-rated inter-commercial team. Registration is going on every Thursday and Friday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel basketball court.
