JEDDDAH, 21 November — Al-Ittihad came to the top with 20 points in the King’s Cup soccer league when it routed Al-Ansar 5-2 in Jeddah last night, writes Saad Mashyakh.
In other matches Al-Hilal thrashed Al-Ittifaq with 3-0 and Al-Shoala defeated Al-Tai with 1-0. Al-Ahli, Al-Nasr and Al-Shoala have gathered 16 points each.
Sergio of Ittihad scored three goals at 4th, 27th and 45th minutes while Jerson and Al-Hasan Al-Yami scored one each at the 12th and 90th minutes respectively. Al-Ansar managed to return two goals which were the contributions of their star striker Mustafa Hausawi at 50th and 68th minutes.
Led by international Sami Al-Jaber, Al-Hilal did not give any chance for its rival Al-Ittifaq to return even a single goal in the match played in Riyadh. The first two goals were scored by Kato (20th minute) and Lobesco (24th minute). The last goal was scored by Al-Jaber (71st minute).
Al-Tai had its eighth defeat in a row when Al-Shoala’s Claudio converted a long pass to a beautiful goal.
