RIYADH, 23 November — With the go-signal from Executive Director of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center Employee Social Club (KFSH&RC-ESC) Mesfer Al-Zahrani, the 4th annual HOSTT inter-hospital basketball tournament is set to start on Friday Nov. 23.

Noting the unparalleled enthusiasm of basketball aficionados, KFSH-ESC Coordinator for Recreation Services Ala’a Aldeen Hamad, co-organizer of the tournament, has left no stones unturned in paving the way to ensure the success of this much-awaited sports fanfare. He confirmed that the KFSH&RC-ESC Recreation Services staff, comprising the logistics committee, will lend manpower assistance and take care of the physical arrangements, maintenance and upkeep of the court and other facilities, orderliness, gate pass, all the equipment that would be needed during the matches, first aid, and other operational requirements, including the trophies for the awarding.

HOSTT, on the other hand, coordinates the technical aspect, including the screening of players, drafting the rules and regulations, and other pertinent matters. Assisting HOSTT Chairperson Muriel Aquino in working on the details are HOSTT founder and adviser Perla Vega, Basketball Subcomittee Chairman Vic Cardenas together with Josie Alimpuangon, Hermie Jimenez, and the other HOSTT EXECOM members.

Among the twelve participating hospital teams looking forward to the eight-week round robin matches are: Al Habib Medical Center, Dallah Hospital, Insurance Hosptial, King Fahd National Cancer Center & Research, KFSH&RC, King Abdulaziz Medical City, Kingdom Hospital, King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, King Saud University Hospital, Riyadh Military/Prince Sultan Cardiac Center, Specialized Medical Center & Security Forces Hospital.

Pledging to provide their products and gift prizes for raffle during the opening are Al Safi-Danone, Pepsi, Metro Star Cargo and Power Horse. National Merchandising Manager Khaldouns Al Shaaban of Al Safi-Danone provided the uniform for the defending champion KFSH&RC team.

Official referees and table officials will be provided by the Ernesto Carlos headed FCBR, as arranged by secretary-general Jake Floria, and Internal Vice President Ernie de la Cruz, Ed Tamayo, and Mohammed Villamena.
