JEDDAH, 30 November — The Championship Cup is still anybody’s game after the 20th thrilling match in the BBG Tuesday Night League being played at the Jeddah Bowling Center here. The results of the games during the week reduced the gaps into pieces and each powerhouse team is now a striking distance away from the other.
Although the week was punctuated by the strong finish of Libby’s Hot Line at the score of 78 points after the exciting thrilling games against D’Amigos (73) on lanes 21 and 22, Libby’s remained on the 11th position (952.5) but with merely six points away from tenth runner Otra Cosa (958.5).
Libby’s snatched the honors of being the team of the week in a row when it again submitted a big 78 points on the table through the quartet of Mar Narvasa, Nick Suing, Lino Traquina and Joey Salvador.
The quartet produced the totals of 885 pins for 21 points, 846 equivalent to 17 points and 843 for 18 points. Their 3-game series of 2574 bagged 22 bonus points after all the scores of the 22 teams were tapered down, the team with the lowest series is to receive one point.
In accordance with the existing rules, however, the prize will be awarded to N-Ball team under the captainship of Alex A. Tabusares. N-Ball submitted 40.5 points after Lavern Laderas, Leo Pangilinan, Nap de Guzman and Bien Hermosura clobbered The Falcons. Last week, Libbys’ was also the team of the week at 78 points. The prize was awarded to Saudi Diyar Consultant-Night Shift (47.5).
Wilson Triguerro unleashed solid strikes while he energized D’Amigos in their quest for victory against Libby’s Hot Line. He scored a 3-game series of 773 including handicap and snatched the 20th bowler of the week award at the scores of 213, 264 and 239, which were fortified by his 19-pin handicap per game.
Al Alamiah Insektos came closer to the front runner by merely 1.5 points when the quartet of BBG Elite Bowler Hashim Guinomla, league chairman Arnold C. Alday, Sid Lapena and Mao Orolfo routed in three straight sets the KKB team of Randy Mata, Ver Luz, Danny Hizon and Majid Aslani (73-60). The Insektos made a big stride on the penultimate set when Guinomla seared the lanes with eight strikes for a whooping 269 and summed up the total of the team to 896 for 22 points.
In spite of the good games of cargo specialists Cris “veteran” Villavelez and Fred Monzon, giant killers Ghassan Al Masri, Hussain Al Assiri, Dasugi Mohammad and Wadia Mohammad of Thunderball trounced Sky Freight Forwarders throughout the match. The scores were 808-754, 835-814 and 851-806 and registered a total of 67-32.5 points. SkyFreight, however, continued to lead the pack of powerhouse contenders in the table by 1.5 points.
Mixi Lechuga was sizzling at the beginning, blasted the lanes with a series of 11 strikes and scored a big 278. With the assists of Goying Salazar, Roger Dacquioag, and Ishaq Mohammad, Internet@Kape posted 931 for 22 points. Although they dropped the second game in favor of Abudawood Trading, the triumvirate of Salazar (243), Dacquioag (213) and Lechuga (232) made a strong finish on the last game, scored 865 (21 points) and brought their final tally to 68 points including the 19 rank points for their 3-game series of 2542.
Abudawood Trading bowlers avenged their loss against Internet@Kape on the second game with Felix Julaton (236) leading on the frontline. The team shot 847 (18 points) and was then a point away with each other (27-28). On the final set, however, the pair of Lindo Villanueva and Emil Payongayong fired lack-luster games, the team scored 795 (7 points) and their series of 2431 (13) brought their total earnings to 47.
The pair of Nap Patayan and Rally Zamora led Sarawat Aces in defeating decisively the team of Bakin and Co. With the scores of 857-668, 814-710 and 840-781, Sarawat carded 68.5 points while Bakin had 9.
The Guess? squad of Gil Ordonez, Edwin Carrao, Danny de Guzman and Ariel Urquia overpowered the Power Strikers team of Allan Sanoza, Edward Escalona, Fernando Siasoco and Rey Pormilda. The match tallied with the scores of 823-77 (18-5), 831-819 (15-12) and 814-786 (10-6).
N-Ball bowlers Lavern Laderas, Leo Pangilinan, Nap de Guzman and Bien Hermosura hit hard the fierce and high-flying Falcons that the shot stopped them to fly in three straight sets. N-Ball posted 40.5 points while The Falcons scored 20. After a poor start of MBC against Top Gun (786-719), Jess Pineda, Benjie Cils, Dante Calapatia and Egay Catain bounced back on the second set (877-734) and survived from the fierce exchange of marks on the final stretch (830-820) when Ruben Medina of Top Gun gunned down 223. The points tallied at 49-29. Saudi Diyar Consultants Egay Samartino, Jerry Valle, Resty Regio and Pris Calidro rolled-off 58 points and outscored Seiko in spite of the precise shots of Danny Guela.
