JEDDAH, 30 November — Jeddah Cricket League tournament sponsored by Kanoo Group, in the second division witnessed eight matches, in the third week. New entrants Saudia Majestique continued with their winning form with an emphatic 52 runs win against Talha Optic, after their impressive 9-wicket triumph against Tamgo last week. Nestle Milo had a close shave against Saudia City scraping past by 5 runs. Otis in spite of an impressive bowling performance from Amir Sajjad, who had 6 victims, in a devastating spell of 3.4 overs, lost to Sadafco by 18 runs, when their batting collapsed.
Tamer, Afkar Pro 7, Saudi General Insurance and Saudi Perfume all sailed past comfortably against Team DDB, Pak Roshan, International Indian School Jeddah and Zuhair Fayez respectively, in one sided encounters.
Tamgo gave walkover to Hempel Paints.
At the ACE ground Saudia Majestique called correct at the spin of the coin and decided to bat first against Talha Optics. In the allotted 18 overs they put on 160 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Opener Mohammed Ali (36) and two-down batsman Iqbal (68) which had 9 fours were the main scorers. In reply, none of Talha Optics batsmen could stay at the wicket to build the score, they were all bundled out for 108. Munaf 3 for 27, Yousef 2 for 25 and Hanif Patel 2 for 12 were responsible for Talha Optics downfall and provided Saudia Majestique a 52 runs victory.
At the Nestle Milo ground, hosts Nestle Milo restricted Saudia City to win by 5 runs in a keenly-contested match. Nestle Milo made 140 for 7 wickets in the allotted 18 overs. Their innings was build by opener Omer (44) and Rehmat (30) who came down the order at number 7. Junaid Arif claimed 3 wickets for 23. In reply, Saudia City had a shock when they lost their opener of the second ball of the inning. But they still maintained the required run rate with a rapid-fire 45 from Nadeem and good support from Junaid (25). Khalid took 2 wickets for 27. It was in the closing overs that Saudia City slipped below the run rate. Required to make 21 runs of the last 2 overs, they fell short by five runs making 135 for 6, and a slender 5 run win for Nestle Milo.
At the Otis ground, hosts Otis were narrowly beaten by Sadafco. Batting first, Sadafco were all out for 145 due to some fine bowling from Amir Sajjad who became the bowler of the day with a haul of 6 wickets for just 19 runs. He was well supported by Wajid (3 for 23). Sadafco batting was also rescued by a singular performance from Khalil Qazi making 68 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 6 fours. The only significant support he got, was from Ali Hussain (20). In reply, Otis was restricted to 127 for 9. Sadat (29), Amir (21) and Shammy (21) were the main scorers. H. Anwar 3 for 11 and Khalil Qazi 2 for 32 were successful with the ball which enabled Sadafco to win by 18 runs.
At the Zuhair Zahran ground, Saudi Perfume defeated Zuhair Faiz by 7 wickets. Batting first Zuhair Faiz made129 for 5 in the allotted 18 overs. Nadeem (45) and Zeeshan (48) made the bulk of scoring, while Atif 2 for 18 and Amodi 2 for 31 were amongst the wickets. In reply, Saudi Perfume reached the target in the 15th over for the loss of 3 wickets, Abid (48), Sajid (41 n.o.) and Atif (24 n.o.).
At the Juffali ground, Team DDB lost to Tamer. Team DDB made 126 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 18 overs. Hammad (26) and Nadeem (44) scored the runs. Afrooz 2 for 24, Saleem 2 for 20 and Almaas 2 for 12 took the wickets. In reply, Tamer made 129 for the loss of 1 wicket for a 9 wicket victory. Anwar Khan 64 not out with 8 boundaries and Osman Butt 52 not out with 9 boundaries took Tamer to an emphatic win.
At the Hempel Paints ground, International Indian School Jeddah lost to Saudi General Insurance by 7 wickets. IISJ scored 127 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs, Sajid (18), Mujahid (41) and Ammar (23) doing the bulk of scoring. Rehmat 2 for 21, Mujeeb 2 for 19 and Kaleem 2 for 11 were the main wicket takers. In reply SGI made 129 for 3 with contribution from Tariq (41) and Azeem (36 n.o.).
At the Kanoo ground Pak Roshan were defeated by Afkar Pro7. Pak Roshan batted first and scored 141 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Asif (23), Zahid (27) and Roshan (24) were the main scores while Azhar took 3 wickets for 17. In reply Afkar Pro7 achieved the target in the 15th over with loss of 2 wickets making 146 for 2. Ali opened the innings and carried the bat with an unbeaten 69, he was well supported by Parves who scored 37. Afkar Pro7 thus gained an eight wickets victory.
At the Hempel Paints ground, Tamgo given a walkover against hosts Hempel Paints.
