JEDDAH, 7 December — In Division One of Kanoo League, Kaleem’s unbeaten century secured a victory for Zuhair Zehran against Juffali. SGB Green enjoyed their first success against ACE Travel. Unasco, Kanoo Travels, Daccen Blues and Kanoo had their victories against Red Sea Paints, Shalimar, Adamjee and Nadir Toor respectively.
Zuhair Zehran had a narrow victory of 5 runs against Juffali mainly due to Kaleem’s unbeaten century consisting of 4 boundaries and 4 towering sixes. Haroon (31) helped out to put 178 for 3. Hamid from Juffali claimed 3 for 28. In reply, Juffali, inching to the target, scored 173 for 8, in which, Shafiq (37), Imran (32) and M. Zahid (22) were the main batsmen. Capt. Haroon Abdullah of Zuhair Zehran grabbed 3 for 28 while Siraj and Mumraz Khan took 2 wickets each for 30 and 33 runs respectively.
SGB Green delighted with their 1st victory over ACE Travel. Capt. Suhail decided to handle with the bat first although they could not achieve the combination for the last two matches and clubbed 147. From Ace Travel, Iftekhar, Mubasher and Ashfaq shared 2 wickets each for 32, 33 and 22 runs respectively. In response to the reasonable run rate, ACE Travel started with an aggressive style, played four overs at the rate of 11 runs, but Hafeez and Jameel of SGB Green did not allow any batsmen to stay longer on the crease and let ACE Travel to score 100 for 9. Hafeez captured 4 for 17 and Jameel claimed 3 for 10.
Unasco defeated Red Sea Paints by 28 runs. The winning team scored 146 for 4. Zahid Iqbal hit 5 fours in his unbeaten 54 runs while Tanvir scored 49 runs consisting of 6 fours. Later, Altaf Mirza added 21 runs to the total. In reply, Red Sea Paints bundled out for 118 with Akram (35) and Liaquat (23). The successful bowler of Unasco was Tanvir who claimed 5 for 26 while Zahid took 2 for 04.
In a low-scoring match at Juffali Ground, Kanoo Travels fascinated a victory over Shalimar by 14 runs. Kanoo Travels compiled 153 for 6 in 18 overs, in which, Rashid (42), Majid (35) and Shaukat (21) were the notable scorers. From Shalimar, Nabil and Zain grabbed 2 wickets each for 30 and 21 runs respectively. In reply, Shalimar all out for 139, with Naved (38), Wajid (21) and Tariq (20) were the main batsmen. Shamim of Kanoo Travels claimed 3 for 18 while Aleem and Shafi took 2 wickets each conceding 35 and 30 runs respectively.
Deccan Blues displayed better performance than Adamjee Insurance, beating by 14 runs. Taking the first strike, Deccan Blues compiled 162 for 3 in 18 overs. Aziz hit 5 fours in his 69 runs while Naser scored 21 n.o. Salim from Adamjee took 2 for 14. In reply, Adamjee could reach 148 for 7. Basher from Deccan Blues obtained 3 for 26 and Younus took 2 for 26.
Kanoo chased an easy target of 95 runs offered by Nadir Toor with Ghayyur (20). Zubair from Kanoo chopped off 4 for 23 and Azher took 2 for 11. In reply, Kanoo scored the required runs for the loss of 6 wickets, in which, Shahid Maulana (36) and Wasif (30) were the main scorers. Nadir from Nadir Toor chipped in 4 for 20.
